Would You?

Would you put up Christmas lights?  I went searching for extravagance and had to enter a Christian domain to do so..... our sad little mulberry tree is festooned with little lights.  Now to take them down.....

Christmas in the Burbs

5.  and then there's me - I do none of the above.

"You drive all the way to ..... to go to a restaurant? (nearest big city which is 45 minutes away)

I'm waiting for the backlash - the one that involves white people becoming a minority..... how will it manifest itself?

Laundry

There are no laundromats in suburbia - everyone assumes you own a washer/dryer. When I lived in the city, we used a laundromat. My suburban friends were always astonished and dismayed that I should be so poor and have to go to a laundromat..... this motel comes with its own laudromat. Hiding secrets. All the secrets in suburbia are indoors, too..... now we're not supposed to have clotheslines. Some new government regulation. Wouldn't it be better to have a clothesline and save energy - who cares what colour your smalls are...... air out all your secrets in your backyard!!!

The Commuter Station

There is nothing possible that I can add to this already grim scene...... Thanking my lucky stars I don't have to commute. This is the mode of transportation for most unlucky souls in the suburbs.

What Colour?

What colour is your city...... where we live it is the fastest growing "mixed" population - that means, Indian, African-Canadian, Hispanics. I may complain about the loss of the urban environment but this makes up for it.

New Neighbours

We got new neighbours on Friday - they put up 3 satellite dishes and blocked out all their windows - not just with drapes, but some kind of sticky plastic to make the glass look frosted.....

what are they doing in there?

BBQ

My neighbourhood is very 50's......but with immigrants and retired couples. I don't know many women who bother to BBQ. We have a BBQ - it's in a box, unassembled in our garage.
Gas fucking scares the life out of me.

Dogs in Suburbia

fuck off neighbourhood dog that barks at everything including passing clouds!

Garages

Here in the dark heart, garages are sometimes considered apartments or entertainment zones.... I've seen entire families sitting inside their garages watching traffic go by.....

who was to know the many purposes of the garage? Only in suburban mysteries.

Neighbourhood Watch

Is it unusual to have your neighbours watch over your house..... to remind you if you've left a door open? Do they use night vision when it gets dark?
Albert, who opens the pool, has a large search light that goes on when he opens the patio doors.

We Know...

We know what happens in old motels..... we don't know what goes on in suburbia.....

Gone to Suburbia

This is not my studio.... this is the lake in the city near where I used to live. I have moved to the heart of the suburban outback. I continue to scan for signs of life.........
